What got Ru racing?

My potential was first realised on my 11th birthday.  My dad took me indoor karting for the first time. Though I crashed a few dozen times, by the end of the day I was faster than dad (to his great annoyance). After this I was hooked. It wasn't until I was 13 that I got my first shot in a proper racing kart.
Though, initially, I was rubbish, I loved the speed and the physicality of the kart. And, eventually, I realised that through my persistent careering into walls, and hammering of the brakes, I'd actually become quite good. And I haven't looked back.

How does Ru keep fit for racing?

I like to keep to a strict fitness routine trying to exercise in some form everyday. I'm in the gym 5-6 mornings a week and most afternoon/evenings I usually swaps between a running or cycling session.
Going to university, I have started bouldering which I find is extremely helpful to build core stability and helps my brain plan strategy. I also find it helps being more aware of my body and what it is doing.

What are Ru's ambitions?

I took the decision to race in the Mini JCW Challenge for the 2020 season which is the main support series to the British Touring Car Championship, BTCC, for this year. However, due to Covid-19, I’ve postponed my Mini Challenge debut until 2021 .

If I do well in the Mini JCW Challenge, the next step would be to move into the BTCC. The BTCC is one of the best-loved, most illustrious and famous motor racing championships in the world. This is the pinnacle of British Motorsport and is idolised by British drivers coming up the ranks, like me, to compete in.
Competing in the BTCC opens up a lot more opportunities to a driver as the championship has a greater prestige. This will get more publicity in showing their abilities and potentially pick the interest of a manufacturer or two. SOO my first ambition is to progress into the BTCC.

For now, I will also be doing my degree of Accountancy with Finance Degree at the University of Glasgow, cause you know, gotta keep the parents happy.
